A guy named Jason asked me to come shoot his band on Saturday. I did. The photo above is my current favorite from the night.

I started to write a kind of love letter to Seattle here. I know I’ve lived in other places with plenty of musicians, cities where bands are forming and breaking up and coalescing into new groupings, making good new noise. But only here in Seattle have I found myself meeting musicians without even trying to. I’m still not quite able to believe that some of my favorite songs ever are by someone I met when she was teaching my daughter’s art class at Gymboree. Jason, the guitarist on the right in the photo above, works at a cafe in Fremont. His banter with customers made him totally plausible as a frontman before I even knew he had a band.

I need to wrap this up for now. A few more thoughts later.

For now, here’s a link to Jason’s band, West Seattle Pleasure Club.
